Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) is almost every Malaysian's bittersweet experience. We were young, we were having fun and we were going to leave school after SPM. But these students who sat SPM 2021 exam had a very different experience than others.
"Why is it always postponed? I don't even have the motivation to study again. I just hoped that I can end this as soon as possible. " This were the words that I have heard from a Form 5 student.
Because of the pandemic, the school has closed and students were only able to learn from the Internet. And all of us are aware that, online learning is less effective and less interactive for the students.
Students from lower forms and standards are able to come back to school after some time. But not for the Form 5 students, they were in home for months and then they went to the exam just like that.
Peer pressure sometimes could be a positive motivating factor for students to achieve better and be more hardworking. But staying at home, it waters their flame of passion.
Some students pleaded to postpone again, while some could not bear for another postponement. Anyhow, SPM 2021 (which was supposed to be SPM 2020) has come to an end and the students are as free as a bird again.
We hope the best future for the SPM students and this experience is absolutely worthy to be told to their future kids.
